The Calvary in Banská Štiavnica is one of the most beautiful Baroque calvaries in Europe. The complex of three churches and a number of chapels was built in 1744-1751 on the Scharffenberg hill above the town. The Calvary is a Stations of the Cross decorated with valuable statues and frescoes. After decades of decay, the Calvary has been restored to its original beauty. From the top of the Calvary you can enjoy a panoramic view of the historic Banská Štiavnica and the surrounding countryside.
